2.jpgOn entry to school all students are placed into mixed ability tutor groups and in most subjects they are taught by ability. Teaching groups are decided by using Primary School information.
Further tests are taken in school to adjust the groups if necessary. The purpose of teaching students in different ability groups is to ensure that the needs of all students are catered for by providing lessons at the appropriate level.

 

You will receive a report each term on your child's progress. Reports are given out in November and Febraury these will 4.jpginclude a progress check in each subject plus attendance, punctuality, merit information and behaviour.


Year 11 receive a final Record of Achievement in February to take with them to interviews.


Year 7-10 receive a detailed Record of Achievement in July and parents are asked to collect this at a Parents Evening. An additional Parents Evening is held for Year 7 in November .
Students can expect a variety of teaching styles e.g. whole class teaching, group work, the use of I.C.T., educational visits.


All students who attend school in year 11 and complete the necessary coursework will be entered for GCSE examinations.
